Hello, I'm Francesca and I warmly welcome you to Forest Room.
You can join me for counselling and psychotherapy :
I have designed my therapy space to be a gentle and soothing environment, where you can simply come and be yourself. I also conduct online and telephone counselling sessions from here.
I really value working with a broad client base - diversity keeps me on my toes, celebrating the unique qualities of every individual I meet in therapy. Hearing your story unfold, and helping you to make sense of it all using my (Level 7) training in Transactional Analysis, is one of the most rewarding processes that therapy can offer. I specialise in working with:
Anxiety and depression can stem from a range of causes, many of which I mention below. My empathic approach, along with my training, equips me to provide a healing connection with you, and I use tools and techniques that are highly effective in empowering you to heal.
A great mentor of mine once said that 'trauma is where life as we know it stops'. This helps to make sense of why a whole range of Life's chapters can feel so challenging - from the small to the mighty. Perhaps you are struggling with a relationship ending; an illness / injury (your own or those of a loved one); grief; or perhaps a childhood trauma that is getting in the way of your day-to-day happiness. Within the safe boundary of therapy, you can soften and dim the painful narratives that keep you trapped, and create new ones that will carry you into the rest of your life.
Any one of us can suddenly find ourselves facing a daunting new reality - and feel worried about the future. With the right help and support, you can make sense of difficult changes, adjust healthily to them, and thrive. Or, perhaps you are here because you are actively seeking change - because you don't want to carry on the way you are. I find this a particularly rewarding area to work with and I know you will too.
Before I became a mother, I was an English teacher, which is where my love of working with teens and young people people first began. The years between childhood and adulthood can be magical and they can also be fraught with challenges - and I could never grow weary of supporting young people as they launch into their futures. I continue to work with schools as a counsellor, for both students and staff. I like to work closely and supportively with parents if clients are under the age of 16, and I can communicate with SENDCOs, psychiatrists and GPs when needed. I also offer written assessments to support EHCPs or provision plans in schools.
I am privileged to work with clients who are: on the autistic spectrum, have ADD / ADHD, have dyslexia - or a combination of these. Often, neurodivergent clients need to be attuned to more closely, having experienced many years of feeling an overwhelming sense of not fitting in, or simply not feeling good enough. I have family members who are neurodivergent, and they have inspired me to study this area in greater depth. Psychoeducation, self esteem work and a consistent, supportive therapeutic relationship can make a huge difference, and can help you to move forwards with hope and self compassion.
I began my training in counselling and psychotherapy when my eldest child turned two in 2014. Since then, I have completed many years of training towards my Masters level qualification at The Link Centre in Lewes.
I am always developing my skills and learning new techniques to support my clients on their way to wellness.
My first degree was in English Literature, before then qualifying as a teacher in 2006. I have loved working with schools and young people ever since!
I am a member of the NCPS, UKATA, EATA and the ITAA.
Privately funded, weekly sessions are charged at £50 and last 1 hour for individuals, or 1.5 hours for couples.
I offer a number of discounted sessions to keep my services accessible - please get in touch to arrange a chat with me.
I charge a higher corporate fee to account for extra communication and administration time (POA)
